Not all drama or performance has to have pictures.
From a simple narration to a full character story - sound only presentation can have massive impact.
It also has the advantage of being able to scale up a scene.
There you are with your regiment of men - sound allows you by sound effects and multi tape techniques are whole army on the march.
Acting vocally is an act in itself and one worth working on.
Add to this the sound after filming techniques [audio dub] in filmimg scene then good control of the microphone and timing are great assets to any performance.
I am often asked why I use lipsync techniques with actors - it's because by doing so they learn all important timing and voice lip control.
Working sound only is very challenging - but when you get it right it's a good day
